Our body needs sugar as a source of energy for our muscles and keep our mind active. White sugar, also called Sucrose, is obtained mainly from sugarcane and sugar beet and has high glycemic and caloric indexes. White sugar calories are considered empty (lack of vitamins and minerals, having to compensate this absence with other nutrients). Many of the processed foods we eat contain free sugars (sugar added to foods and also sugars present naturally in honey, syrups and fruit juices), representing a higher than required consumption of sugars, thus becoming a health issue (WHO recommends a daily intake of less than 5% or about 25 grams).
Our proposal to sweeten drinks (coffees, teas and infusions) and food, in a natural natural and healthy way, focuses on two products: palm sugar from Cambodia (low glycemic index and rich in minerals) and sugar rock candy in sticks (20% fewer calories and more pure).
